Heron Tower
London
Heron Tower is a multi-use building which provides world class office space. The building has been designed by the architectural practice Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF) and, when completed in 2011, will stand 202 metres in height with a 40 metre mast with 46 storeys. The full height clear glazing will give stunning views out over the City and beyond, from the offices and the rooftop restaurant and bar, by day and at night.
Lerch Bates have designed the main office core to be serviced by 10 double-deck passenger lifts with destination control split into low rise and high rise groups. A total of six of the double deck lifts are glazed ‘scenic’ lifts. The tower also contains a group of two restaurant shuttle lifts serving between levels 0 and 38 – 40 restaurant levels. One lift is designated for firefighting use serving all levels in fire mode and a second firefighting lift is also provided serving all occupied levels. Two escalators serve the main lobby levels 0 – 1 and a hydraulic retail ‘scenic’ lift serves between the two retail levels.
In addition, our Facade Access team has designed three static external systems for access, maintenance and replacement of external facades of the development. The building also consists of internal access systems such as suspended platforms and soffit mounted monorails.
